Possum Specialist · Co-Owner
Mitchell Lyons
Heritage and hard-access roofs, and the entry point everyone else walks straight past.
Mitch co-owns Best At Pests and takes the hard ones. Heritage places, slate roofs, the jobs where there's no obvious way up. He trained as an electrician, which is really just training to trace a fault back to its source instead of treating the symptom. Same instinct on a roof. Getting the possum out is the easy half. The real work is finding the exact gap it's using and sealing that, so nothing comes back next winter. Weekends he's bouldering, which turns out to be decent practice for your roofline.

Mitch's field notes
Possum · Camberwell The Camberwell possum that wasn't in the roof
A Camberwell homeowner had scratching above the bedroom and assumed it was in the roof. It wasn't. A brushtail had got into the wall cavity through a gap where the old brick veneer met the eaves, so the fix was sealing that junction, not the roof space.
Possum · Brunswick The Brunswick apartment possum getting in through the rainheads
A brand new apartment building in Brunswick had possums getting in through the box gutter rainheads. Four gaps, none sealed at build. The first company told the owner to cut holes in the plaster and pull the possum out. One-way doors and internal mesh is how you actually do it.
