We know Balwyn roofs well.
Like, really well.
Unfortunately, so do the possums.

From the original tile roofs on Edwardian homes near Whitehorse Road to the large modern builds replacing them, Balwyn is one of the leafiest suburbs in Melbourne's east.
And that's exactly why possum problems here are so common.
...How do we know?
We've removed possums from just about every type of property in the 3103.
So we know a thing or two about why Balwyn is a possum hotspot:
Mature trees everywhere.
Balwyn's wide, tree-lined streets are beautiful. But those overhanging branches within 1.5 metres of your roof are a possum highway.
They'll use them to jump straight onto your tiles night after night.
Large, period roof cavities.
Many Balwyn homes, particularly the Edwardian and Interwar homes through the Reid Estate and between Whitehorse and Mont Albert Roads, have spacious roof voids with original timber framing. Possums love these. They're warm, sheltered, and full of gaps where tiles have shifted or timber has weathered over the decades.
Maranoa Gardens and surrounding parkland.
Balwyn is home to Maranoa Botanic Gardens, Australia's first botanical garden dedicated to native flora. It's a beautiful community asset (...and a thriving possum habitat). If you live anywhere near Maranoa, Beckett Park, or the green corridors running through the suburb, you're in prime possum territory.
Rear service lanes.
Some of Balwyn's older streets have service lanes running behind properties, an uncommon feature for suburbs outside the inner city. These lanes create sheltered corridors that possums use to move between properties, making it easier for them to find their way into multiple roofs on the same street.
Constant renovation and rebuilding.
Balwyn is going through a major renewal phase, with many older homes being replaced or extensively renovated. Construction activity disturbs existing possum nests, pushing them into neighbouring roofs. If your neighbour's been doing a big reno, that could be exactly why you've suddenly got visitors.
The bottom line?
Balwyn's character (the established trees, the older homes, the gardens) is what makes it a great place to live.
It's also what makes it one of Melbourne's busiest suburbs for possum activity.
So we like to think we're Balwyn's best possum catchers!
We're not some large company with overpaid sales people and undertrained (or underpaid) staff.
It's just us on every job, doing our best to make sure you're happy.
